Star anise is the fruit of a asian tropical tree and has the characteristic shape of a star with eight arms. It has a decided taste quite similar to licorice.
Aromatic herbs are used to brew Belgian Bière Blanche, Grand Cru, Tripples and Christmas Beers. They are usually added in the last 15 minutes of boil. In ancient times herbs were used to extend beer’s storage time.
